Spatial birth-and-death processes in random environment

چکیده
We consider birth-and-death processes of objects (animals) defined in Zd having unit death rates and random birth rates. For animals with uniformly bounded diameter we establish conditions on the rate distribution under which the following holds for almost all realizations of the birth rates: (i) the process is ergodic with at worst power-law time mixing; (ii) the unique invariant measure has exponential decay of ∗Laboratoire de Mathématiques Raphaël Salem, UMR 6085 CNRS– Université de Rouen, F 76821 Mont Saint Aignan–Cedex, FRANCE; [email protected] †Instituto de Matemática e Estat́ıstica USP, Caixa Postal 66281, CEP 05389-970 São Paulo, BRAZIL; [email protected] ‡Instituto de Matemática y Estad́ıstica Rafael Laguardia, Facultad de Ingenieŕıa Universidad de la República, Julio Herrera y Reissig 565, CP 11300, Montevideo, URUGUAY; [email protected].

Spatial point processes and the projection method
The projection method obtains non-trivial point processes from higher dimensional Poisson point processes by constructing a random subset of the higher dimensional space and projecting the points of the Poisson process lying in that set onto the lower dimensional region. This paper presents a review of this method related to spatial point processes as well as some examples of its applications. ...
متن کاملSpatial birth and death processes as solutions of stochastic equations
Spatial birth and death processes are obtained as solutions of a system of stochastic equations. The processes are required to be locally finite, but may involve an infinite population over the full (noncompact) type space. Conditions are given for existence and uniqueness of such solutions, and for temporal and spatial ergodicity. For birth and death processes with constant death rate, a sub-c...
متن کاملPower spectra of random spike fields & related processes
This paper presents general methods for obtaining power spectra of a large class of signals and random fields driven by an underlying point processes, in particular spatial shot noises with random impulse response and arbitrary basic stationary point processes described by their Bartlett spectrum, and signals or fields sampled at random times or points, where again the sampling point process is...
متن کاملAnalysis of the spatial distribution of infant mortality by cause of death in Austria in 1984 to 2006
BACKGROUND In Austria, over the last 20 years infant mortality declined from 11.2 per 1,000 life births (1985) to 4.7 per 1,000 in1997 but remained rather constant since then. In addition to this time trend we already reported a non-random spatial distribution of infant mortality rates in a recent study covering the time period 1984 to 2002. This present study includes four additional years and...
متن کاملLinear birth/immigration-death process with binomial catastrophes
In this paper, we study a birth/immigration-death processes under mild (binomial) catastrophes. We obtain explicit expressions for both the time-dependent (transient) and the limiting (equilibrium) factorial moments, which are then used to construct the transient and equilibrium distribution of the population size. We demonstrate that our approach is also applicable to multidimensional systems ...
